2-day Program

Learning to separate from parent (or caregiver) on a regular basis
Following a basic classroom routine and classroom rules
Learning proper ways to interact with peers
Self-help skills and independence
Colors, simple shapes, beginning numbers (1-5)
Recognition of own name in writing
Introduction to scissor skills and a variety of art materials
Basic calendar and counting skills
Learning simple rhymes, songs and finger plays
Following basic directions to complete a project
Introduction to being a part of a group (taking turns, sharing)

3-day/PreK Program

Continuation of separation skills (one more day added)
Additional classroom expectations and instructions, age appropriate for 4 and 5 year olds
Classroom projects require multiple steps, take more concentration to complete
Much more emphasis on self-help and independence
Social skills and manners with a group setting, problem solving with peers
Learning all of the upper case alphabet letters (each child creates an alphabet folder)
Learning numbers 1-20 (verbally counting); writing 1-10 (each child creates a math folder)
Calendar: days of the week, months of the year, and seasons
Learning the Pledge of Allegiance and patriotic songs
Writing own name “the Kindergarten way”, working on proper grip
Developing fine motor skills through scissors, writing and other techniques
Literature base units, working on story elements (Who, What, Where, When, and Why)
Working toward goal of self-control / being attentive for 20 – 25 minute circle time (increases as the year progresses)
Units on healthy eating, body health and positive character traits
