Christian Environmental Ethics
Renewable Energy Statement/Motion
We believe human beings were created in the image of God, given a privileged place among creatures, and commanded to exercise stewardship over the earth. Genesis 1:26-28; Psalm 8:4-6
We believe that as members of the body of Christ, individually and collectively as a church, we must care about our environment because we love God the Creator and Jesus our Lord, through whom and for whom the creation was made. Colossians 1:16
We believe the scientific evidence that heat trapping gases are altering the creation in ways that are harmful to realizing God’s will that “His kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven.”
Therefore, recognizing our responsibility to be active stewards of preserving life on our planet, we move that Webster Presbyterian Church commit to use of renewable energy by subscribing to receive electric power from a local Community Solar Energy Program.
